I know a lot of people don't like wasps here in Scotland but I do. This wasp spent the whole summer on this piece of wood, which is a craving of animals and wildlife. I walked passed almost everyday and it was there! I have been stung by both a bee and wasp and I am not allergic to either. On both occasions it wasn't either the bee or wasp's fault! Wasps play an important part in nature. This photo was taken 26th April this year.
I have lots of photos to transfer so will do that in the next few days and start posting them. I hope you are all well and happy December!
...a year ago they built a nest in our house, I wasn't happy.
ReplyDeleteNot so good. I had one outside the window a few summers ago and watched them with delight! Interesting goings on between them and the spiders!
DeleteBeautiful shot against the textured background
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, glad you like it :-D
DeleteA good photograph.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too fond of wasps, although despite our grievances, the ecosystem actually relies on these underappreciated insects.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan. Oh totally they are so underappreciated and so important in life. :-D
DeleteThis is a really impressive photo! I am definitely afraid of wasps, but that is because I have been stung by one before. It's never any fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shannon. It isn't nice getting stung.
DeleteIt is very pretty with those hand painted racing stripes!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes it is! Thanks :-D
DeleteUy lindo bicho. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIt is! Thanks :-D
DeleteIt looks so colourful but scary to discover that in real life!
ReplyDeleteNot at all, they are generally harmless here. Certainly in my experience! Thanks :-D
DeleteMy Darling Ananka! I don't like wasps either. I am afraid of them.
ReplyDeleteDon't be afraid of them Irina!
DeleteOh, I got stung by the whole nest once when I was little. It was a horrible experience. Not a fan.
ReplyDeleteHappened to me once too and they chased me all the way home yikes
DeletePfft not ideal for you both huh! Sorry to hear that. I have never had such an experience with them.
DeleteSuch a cool shot. When I was in high school our team was The Yellow Jackets which we refer to as wasp.
ReplyDeleteAhh that kinda makes sense!
DeleteYou are so brave!
ReplyDeleteThanks :-D
DeleteOh, I think of all the accidents we've had trying to get rid of Wasp. The boyfriend fell on my grandmother while he was on a ladder one summer. She broke her arm because she wouldn't stay out of the way while he was trying to get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteOh that isn't ideal. They don't seem to such a problem over here!
DeleteBuena foto!!
ReplyDeleteTengo una igual y un entendido me dijo que es una mosca rayada. busca y en internet verás como las encuentras.

DeleteHe encontrado esto.
Mine is a wasp for sure! We called striped flies "Hoverflies". I have plenty photos of these too. Thanks for the link :-D
DeleteGreat close up! I've been stung a few times but I try to remember they're just doing their thing! :):)
ReplyDeleteThat isn't ideal! This one was calm :-D
Ana
I don't know this Asian Wasp. That is bad they kill the bees :-( Good there is a method of control. Thanks so much :-D
DeleteWhat a nice close-up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill :-D
DeleteI also really like wasps and I know how important they are.
ReplyDeleteNice shot Ananka
Thanks Fernando, I thought I was alone in liking them. Yes they really are! Thanks :-D
DeleteI blow up like a balloon when one stings me.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry to hear that Kirk. Avoid them!
DeleteBoa noite Ananka. As vespas e abelhas fazem um trabalho único na naturez: polinização das plantas.
ReplyDeleteYes Luiz, they are very important. Thanks :-D
DeleteBom início de semana.
ReplyDeleteThank you :-D
DeleteI don't like them here but it's a nice photograph
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam :-D
DeleteThat looks like you were so close to it!
ReplyDeleteI was! I am not afraid haha!
