Birch Polymore Mushroom in Scotland

This is a Birch Polymore (Fomitopsis betulina) growing on a tree. It was huge!

  9. Are you sure that this is Birch Polypore? Doesn’t look much like it to me.

    2. Doesn’t look anything like Birch Polypore and I am not familiar with European Fungi, but maybe some kind of bracket fungus in the genus Trametes. I can’t be sure what it is, but I’m pretty sure what it is not!

  10. How amazing! Seems like fungus prefer dead or dying wood. I wonder if it's growing on a healthy tree?
