In September we went to the Vets Open Day. I have been with the same Vet for 15 years now. Here are previous years: 2024 and 2022. I went in 2023 as well but wasn't posting too much back then!
I didn't take a lot of photos this year round! 4 of the snake. My daughter is obsessed with snakes. The first photo, she is touching it, the second photo me and her are holding it and the third me holding its head and the last one the handler with a close up of the snake's head. I remember it was a male snake that was fairly old, I am sure he was called Louis. Next up is a Bearded Dragon and lastly me hold an Owl.
I always enjoy the Open Days. They are lots of fun and do a lot of fundraising for the local charities. They also give tours of their Practice and the animal handling sessions. Along with lots of fun & games for the kids, competitions for the dogs, craft & baking stalls, music and free drinks for all!

No snake for me....but that owl is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThe owl is so very cute :-D Some people aren't keen on snakes! :-D
DeleteWow, those animals are gorgeous. I've never had a snake but I've always wanted a Hog Nosed snake. They are so cute.

DeleteFun times. As a kid one evening I was at the Youth Center. We usually played table tennis, danced at the disco, or sat in the cafe talking, on this visit I sat down next to a big snake, without noticing it. Belonged to one of the guyr working there. Freaked me out a bit!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you got a bit of a fright! Totally understandable! :-D
DeleteThat is a beautiful snake.
ReplyDeleteIt really is :-D
DeleteA useful event. I can't help but be terrified of snakes! I can't even pick up a worm.

DeleteI love how these Vet Open Days are so interactive and educating, especially for kids. When I was a little girl, I also used to be fascinated with snakes. I'm a bit less now, but I still like them. I love to see snakes in the wild. I'm not sure should snakes be held as pets, though. There were incidents of snakes attacking children and since I heard about those, I think there should be more control about keeping snakes. Of course, it is not the snakes' fault, but unfortunately not all snakes owners are responsible owners. Open Days like this one are also a good way to spread awareness.
ReplyDeleteI like the photograph of an owl a lot!
Yes snake owners should be responsible. It isn't their fault you are right Ivana. Thanks :-D
DeleteIt’s good for children to have contact with animals other than “normal”. cuddly ones.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree David and I try to teach my daughter :-D
