A Symbiotic Relationship

 

This photo is from 31st May 2021 and was shot with my HUAWEI P20 Pro.

This is a Sexton Beetle (or Burying Beetle) with little orange mites on it. Basically the mites hitch-hike on the beetle to their next food source and cause the beetle no harm. Interestingly the mites eat eggs and young maggots which means the Beetle larve are more likely to survive too. So all in all a pretty good deal for both parties!

I was happy with my walk today...10 miles (16km). I didn't feel any pain and glad my legs are still good for it! It was a decent day not too hot and no rain!

Heron

 

This is the resident Heron at the pond. At first he stands tall and proud. Then a seagull swoops and he ducks down and then pops back up again! These were all taken on 29th May.

Been out a good few walks and feeling a good bit better thankfully.

Damselfly On My Finger

Huge Spider

 

This spider was in the house at one point. I did try to make friends with him and he kindly let me take this photo! This was taken on the 5th of July.

Cows

 

I like cows and I met these girls when I was out on one of my walks back in June. They were very curious and wanted to say hello. The black one at the very front was really friendly and wanted some grass! 

Got out again today. Happy I managed 3 days in a row!

It was a year ago today that Charlie Watts died. RIP.

Going Back In Time - 2nd December 2021

As I have lots of photos to share, I thought I'd start a new feature and post ones from the past. These photos will all be from the same date! So to start with we have the 2nd of December 2021. My daughter has just started childcare (or nursery as we call it over here) so I had all this free time and I had only recently got the Samsung S21 Ultra back in early November. So the following are my first proper photos with the phone.

Fast forward to today and I managed another 6 mile walk. It was raining on and off but very mild. It is starting to look a lot like autumn now and I see some of the shops have Christmas stuff in already!!!! And my bad, I ordered some Christmas craft stuff today!

Red Soldier Beetle

 

This is a Red Soldier Beetle, isn't it a lovely. I have a few good photos of these little fellows from this summer! This photo was taken on the 14th of July.

I managed to get out a proper walk today, first time since my prolapse. It was only about 6 miles (9.5 km) and I did okay. I don't want to over do it. Got some great photos too! 

Moorhens

 

These are the 2 Moorhens that are at the pond. They are very shy and I was lucky to get this photo! This photo was taken on 25th April and I have only seen them a few times as they hide up the back. I am pretty sure they have had at least 2 babies, but they stay well hidden! Unlike our Duck and Coot friends!

A View Of A Loch

 

This is a picture of a Loch (pronounced law-k but you say the k as if you had a sore throat). This is near where I live and it is stunning. A Loch is what we Scottish call a lake! I took this photo on 20th July this year.

Goosander

 

This is a female Goosander. I have only ever seen her once at the pond. This photo was taken on the 1st of June. 

A Red Dragonfly

 

This is a lovely red dragonfly. I think it is a Red Darter. They look amazing when they are flying!

Textured Tree

 I like trying to capture texture in photos. This tree has a lovely texture. The way the bark is.

I Ended Up In Hospital!!!!

I ended up in Hospital on Saturday night during my shift at work :-O I have a pelvic organ prolapse...something I had no idea about until then! So I have a referral to the Gynaecologist or as I call them "Guy in a College" lol! I have to change my diet, lose more weight and do daily pelvic floor exercises. So that is why I ain't been about for a few days.  Anyone else have experience of this? Any advice??

As I am only in my early 40s, I am in a little bit of shock. I don't smoke, drink, eat fairly healthy, do lots of walking and would consider myself fairly healthy! I also drink buckets of water too. Thankfully I can still do my walking but have to change a lot in my life as I cannot do heavy lifting, bending, stretching or anything high impact! 

I am doing okay physically, still in a lot of pain around my waist and back but I am following what I should do. Just mentally in shock. As my partner says, "It is, what it is!" Apparently about a third of women suffer from this. 

Crows

It is no secret that I truly love crows and corvids in general. They are such amazing and clever creatures. I do feed them on my walks with seeds and the ones that I feed will recognise me after a few days of feeding and usually follow me! There is something magical and amazing about crows! I am happy to have them as my friends :-D This is a collection of photos of some of my crow friends! These were taken between April and May this year. 

I just love their facial expressions!!

Double Vision

 

We either have double vision for this photo or the Male Mallards are trying to recreate that famous Marx Brothers mirror scene!!! I am a huge fan of the Marx Brothers and no matter how many times I've seen the films they still make me laugh! Both of these Mallards are so beautiful I think. :-D

Red Admiral Butterfly

Oh Dear, It's A Deer!

 

Isn't she beautiful! What a lovely deer. I have to say, she won the staring contest!
