During spawning season, a few weeks ago, I was up at the pond most days. I went for a walk behind the pond and found this little fellow on the path in the sun. So I decided to take him over to the pond. He enjoyed the walk on my hand and I put him into the water. He was happy to be there.
That's very kind of you. And he is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteHe really is. Thanks :-D
Delete...my mother always told me that I would get warts if I handled toads.
ReplyDeleteHaha yes that is a tale told over here too!
DeleteFarmers and gardeners love those creatures, as they eat insects slugs and snails that can damage plants.
ReplyDeleteI gave a toad to a friend who had planted lettuce. He was very happy, because the toad ate the slugs that damaged the lettuce leaves.
Toads are useful!
They are very good for the garden. Hedgehogs also feast on slugs and snails and are good for the garden :-D That was good, I like lettuces, tasty! Thanks Giorgio :-D
DeleteBello questo rospo è molto utile all'orto.
ReplyDeleteThey are. Thanks Olga :-D
DeleteHow nice that you gave the toad a lift.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to :-D
DeleteLo llevaste de nuevo a su hábitat.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
I did indeed! Thanks Laura :-D
DeleteWhat a lovely and gentle story—thank you for sharing it. There's something so touching about taking a moment to help one of nature's creatures find its way.
ReplyDeleteIt made my day to help him. I agree, it is touching. Thanks Melody :-D
DeleteIt was very sweet of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks :-D
DeleteIf it’s still breeding season, not doubt the toad was happy to be in the water, otherwise roads are dry land species, only entering water to breed.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely spawning season, they were everywhere at the pond. Great thing to witness and get photos of :-D
DeleteShe is just lovely. The skin is filled with potential treatments for neurodegeneration.
ReplyDeleteYou need to tell me more about that. Yes a lovely creature :-D
DeleteSo kind of you my dear.
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you think so :-D
DeleteAww, I don't pick up toads myself.
ReplyDeleteI do but always sanitise my hands afterwards and wash then when I get home :-D
DeleteThat was super sweet of you to give him a lift.
ReplyDeleteIt got a lot out of it too! Thanks Terry :-D
DeleteThat toad owes you!

ReplyDeleteThanks Irina, means a lot :-D
DeleteThe woman carries the toad to the pond-- and both are happy to be there.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed! Thanks Bill :-D
DeleteLo has rescatado y lo has dejado en el mejor de los sitios.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
And will be forever remembered in this post too! Thanks :-D
DeleteAw, he's a pretty toad. I think the color of their eyes and texture of their skin is so interesting. We used to have so many in our backyards when I was a child, but now, everyone uses so many pesticides to keep their lawns green, I rarely see them anymore.
ReplyDeleteSame here they used to be all over the place in the 80s and early 90s. I am so against the use of chemicals. Nature provides us with what we need. Even in my house I don't use any chemical cleaners and such. Thanks he is gorgeous :-D
DeleteBeautiful shots
ReplyDeleteAnanka to the rescue, again :)
They really are. I had to help :-D
DeleteI heard the frogs today when I was to a mine and photographed
ReplyDeletethey sound very much right now

Delete... and I'm sure he was happy to be back in the water.
