A Young One

Young Seagull in Scotland

Young Seagull in Scotland

I was taking a photo of this young gull and in the second photo he is looking at me. I was talking to him and, no doubt, he was looking for food!

We were at the seaside the other day and there were so many of them and it was great to see. They were looking for food and some people fed them while others were fearing them! In all my years, I have never had a bad encounter with them. Maybe they can sense a good person, I really don't know. But I have met countless people who hate them for no reason it would seem.

  2. I personally find them fun and very entertaining. My old email address had seagull in it, this being many years ago. When we had holidays in a caravan when we were kids, we used to enjoy feeding them scraps through the little skylight in the roof. Great memories and these are great photos.

  16. Gulls are no different from us…have to grow up, become independent, make a living, feed the kids……

  20. I love gulls and take many photos of them. They are wonderful at airborne thievery, perhaps that is why people dislike them. We've watched many a gull go into beach bags and steal and open bags of chips, etc. My husband has had two sandwiches stolen from his hand on the beach. He tends to prop his elbow on the chair while eating and this is an invitation to the gulls, he has also had a cup of french fries stolen from a tray he was carrying. It is funny when I think of these moments. I was pecked a bit on the head while walking the boardwalk a year or two ago. It didn't hurt, just surprised me, I think the gull thought my hair was food.

  21. Judging by its size and the grey colour, this one is about a year old. They turn fully white by age two.
