Oystercatcher

Oystercatcher in Scotland

This is an Oystercatcher. The name would imply they are found near the water and not inland. I live in Central Scotland nowhere near the coast but we have plenty Oystercatchers here. I remember talking to another walker and he commented on this fact too! I love seeing them and really must get more photos.

  7. Li algo sobre essas diferentes aves nos livros de Harry Potter. Aliás, botânica e animais são temas recorrentes nessa saga.

  9. If you live inland, those birds must be catching something other than oysters.

  12. Lovely photo. We get them down on the river, and sometimes they fly up and stroll around our fields.

  15. Bom dia Ananka. A foto ficou maravilhosa. Não temos esse tipo de ave, no Brasil. Uma excelente terça-feira e grande abraço do seu amigo brasileiro.

  17. Great catch! It's a real pretty bird. I used to wonder why we had so many gulls when we lived far, far away from the sea.
