Union Street Fire In Glasgow

I had mentioned this in a post in March. Here are the photos I took on the 11th March.

Info can be found HERE. At the time I took these photos they were still clearing things up and a lot of the streets were shut. I was talking to one of the policemen and he was telling me all they got was abuse from people trying to get along the shut streets. He said it was shocking the way people were behaving and they didn't understand it was for their safety. How rubbish is that? They are there helping and protecting people but still get abuse??? Changed days!

  7. Well you heard one side of the story. I have less than complete confidence in the police.

    1. Very true David but in this instance I am inclined to believe the guy. Knowing what Scottish folk are like! Things have changed so much in the last few years here, it's not good :-(

  8. Well, here we have similar situation, many roads and bridges are blocked because of maintenance and repair work need to be done and it's pretty inconvenient and annoying sometimes..it's nothing to do with the police and workers, but the authorities and politics.

  10. People seem to be losing the ability for critical thinking, as well as what we used to think of as common courtesy.

  11. I haven’t been down that end of town for a while, but I read that part of the street is now open. I’m glad it didn’t open till they felt it was safe!

  14. One would expect people to behave politely towards the helpers. It's a shame that it's not the case.

  15. These are wonderful photos. It's appalling the rudeness and inconsideration people now show without a thought. It is shameful.

  17. I saw the news. That is honestly so disappointing to hear. Emergency workers and police are there to protect people, especially during dangerous situations like a fire, yet they still have to deal with abuse while doing their jobs.

People often forget that road closures and restrictions are usually there for public safety, not to inconvenience anyone personally.

    1. It really was bad Melody. I really hope they managed to not let it get to them after their shifts. Exactly it was done for a reason!
