I have been Blogging since 2011. I first started with 2 Blogs about nail polish, which I do from time to time. My main focus is on my more recent Blog which is about photography, mainly nature and wildlife. Welcome to my little world :-)
Time to stop using this term “seagull” Ananka. There are Herring Gulls, Mew Gulls, Olrog’s Gulls, Great Black-backed Gulls, Belcher’s Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, etc and many of them will never see the sea. Collectively they are gulls not seagulls!
I get where you are coming from, but over here in Scotland we call them "seagulls". It is the term we use for them and always have. I will try to use "gull" in future.
I get your point and you make me sound like a bad person for using it. It is just what we call them here and it isn't out of disrespect, it's a Scottish thing. I guess we are all wrong over here then.
I count 20 in the last photo. Pretty shots!

DeletePeople have also "always used" highly pejorative terms for other races; the fact that an expression is "always used" doesn't make it right!

DeleteIn the last 22 gulls, well, one can only see its tail...
