Doesn't this mushroom look like brains? Yikes! From what I can tell, it is the False Morel.

  3. Schon ganz schön gruselig. Wie im Film. Ja, es ist eine Morchel. (Gyromitra esculenta). Der Pilz ist stark giftig, wird aber in verschiedenen Regionen nach entsprechender Zubereitung als Speisepilz verwendet. Ich würde ihn ganz sicher nicht essen.

  4. Such an unusual mushroom's shape. I agree with you and Tom on learning to distinguish edible mushrooms from poisonous ones (shape, gill attachment, spore color, and odor).

  13. In Finland, it is a delicious edible mushroom, but it must be processed properly for food.

  14. Nature is truly wonderful in its design. Mushrooms and fungi may yet be the saving of mankind, food and medicine wise, so I lean to just admiring than thinking they are strange.
