A Friendly Snail

 

This snail was going along the path and I decided to pick him up and move him onto the grass so he didn't get squished. While lifting him up I put him onto my hand and he popped out, so I took a few photos. If you are handling snails it is best to have slightly wet hands.

Saving A Caterpillar

 

This is a Vapourer Moth Caterpillar also know as Rusty Tussock. It was on a lamp post and I just had to save it. I got a leaf from the ground, as it is unwise to touch caterpillars, and got it on the leaf then popped it onto the tree. It would have a better chance of surviving that way, I thought. I have never seen one of these caterpillars before and was glad to see something new!

Little Fishy

 

This little fish had washed up on the beach. I am not entirely sure what type of fish it is! 

Things People Leave In Nature

 

These are some odd things people have left in nature. First is a packet of cigarettes inside a tree. second is a clothes peg on a tree stump and lastly one shoe in the forest. Aren't humans weird!!

Saving The Bees

 

This is a bee I saved a few years back. Bees are wonderful little creatures and so very important. Sometimes during the summer they need a little extra help so I always carry a sugar solution with me on my walks and feed them it. I have no fear in picking them up and have never been stung while helping a bee. After she got her hit, I put her on a flower, made sure she was okay, took a few photos and then she flew off.

A Friend Came To Visit

 

These photos are a few years old now. This little fellow came to visit me in my garden. I was taking photos of him down low when he decided to jump onto my hand! To my joy he stayed there for a short time and I got these photos of him. Isn't he gorgeous.

Ringlet

 

This is a Ringlet Butterfly. They are really common in my part of Scotland. Though it is very sad that all butterflies are in decline here. I really wish that humans would take much better care of the planet and protect nature.

Hello October 2024

 

Autumn is in full swing over here in Scotland and it is the 1st of October. Hallowe'en will be here soon and I love it! The clocks will also change at the end of this month! Happy October everyone :-D

This is a Hoverfly! It could easily be mistaken for a bee!

This snail was in my garden one night! I decided to take a few photos of him! I love the pattern on his shell.

This is a lovely looking spider.

Baby Coots

 

These are 2 Coot babies from last year. They had about 6 or 7 babies last year and they did well and I went up most days to feed them. Coots are great little birds and good to watch.

The Wicker Man

 

This kind of reminded me of The Wicker Man! There is a famous photo of Christopher Lee standing in front of it with his arms up, maybe that's what I was thinking! Anyway it is a lovely and interesting tree whatever you see in it!

Magical

 

I spotted this rainbow and just had to get photos of it. It looks very magical.

I think this stone looks like it has eyes! The moss looks like hair too!

2 Banded Longhorn Beetle

 

This is a 2 Banded Longhorn Beetle. Isn't it a little cutie!

A Fly On The Mushrooms

 

There is a little fly on these mushrooms. Can you spot it? I think these are Turkey Tail mushrooms.

A Gorgeous Crow

 

How amazing and gorgeous is this crow? I just had to post 2 photos of him! He was my friend most of 2023 on my walks. I think he is such a beautiful creature.

A Nice Pattern

 

I spotted this slug a few weeks back. I found it really interesting due to the pattern. I've never seen the likes before. 

Stumpy

 

This stump caught my eye because it has branches growing out of in a odd way, almost like fingers!

Scarlet Elf Cup

 

These are Scarlet Elf Cup mushrooms. They look pretty funky and amazing I think. They stand out as they are bright red! And I have just checked they are edible too, if cooked thoroughly!

In The Woods

 

I took this while walking in the woods. I really liked how these trees were. I think the branches on the ground look like a spider!

Hallowe'en Mushrooms

 

These mushrooms are getting ready for Hallowe'en. I am not sure what they are, from my research I came up with Leafy Brain? Does anyone know what they are?

Babies Will Be Here Soon

 

This is a Pregnant Green Dock Beetle. I love these little beetles because of their colours, they are iridescent wonders.

Winning The Race

 

It looks like there might be a clear winner in this race, but who knows!

Glasgow Mela 2024

Something a wee bit different today. At the end of June we went to the Glasgow Mela. The Mela celebrates Asian culture in Glasgow. Asian in the UK is Indian, Pakistani and surrounding areas and not Chinese or Japanese. It is a wonderful event and I have been going for many years now. There is a lot of dancing, singing, plenty of good food and lots of event for the kids. Here are some photos from the event this year.

The 3rd photo is a little Aphid that landed on my hand, of course I had to get a photo of him before he flew off! And the last photo, I somehow ended up with the official photographers and got a good shot of these dancers

Well Eaten Leaves

 

These are some well eaten dock leaves! The Green Dock Beetle and maybe slugs too, feast on these leaves.

This is a hoverfly. I really liked the colouring on this one.

This little Soldier Beetle is hiding his head in the shade! 

Friendly Deer

 

We visited Chessington a few months ago, I'll post photos soon. It is about a 9 hour drive back home so we stopped at a service station on the way back and came upon this glorious sight! 2 deer right next to the cars on the grass. I obviously took the opportunity to get photos! There was a forest at the back, so they must have come from there. They did seem relaxed with humans, something I would warn all animals not to be haha!

Autumn Is Coming

 

There are signs of Autumn all over the place just now in Scotland. I really liked this leaf. I am not sure if someone put it on the fence or if it fell like that. Either way, I was impressed! I took this photo last week.

Standing To Attention

 

This is a lovely squirrel. I was lucky to capture this moment a few weeks ago. He really is a cutie.

Does anyone do fasting? I have just finished a 3 day water fast. I actually found it okay and intend to do it again soon.
