I'm a simple Scottish girl with an unusual name and a strange obsession for nail polish! My aim is to capture what the eye sees, with a camera! Too much nail polish and never enough time. I have also started wildlife photography, which I enjoy very much. Welcome to my little world :-)
These are a few different Hoverflies. They are really common over here and are harmless. They kinda look like wasps to the untrained eye, I guess it is their defence mechanism! Isn't nature wonderful :-D
Hoverflies are wonderful insects, well worthy of our attention. I am not familiar with their abundance in Scotland, Ananka, but I suspect there are more than “a few.” Your challenge now is to go find them all!
At least 5 or 6 different types that I have seen. They are lovely little creatures aren't they! That will be a hard challenge but I can try haha. Thanks David :-D
...I have an untrained eye, they all look like flies!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, I am learning about all the different flies! I like these guys, they don't bite me haha!
DeleteSi las viera por la naturaleza, seguro que algunas confundiría con una avispa.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
They really do look like wasps! Thanks :-D
DeleteThe first two resemble wasps to me but the last one looks kind of special with its colouring. I've never seen one like that.
ReplyDeleteDon't they just Yes the last is a bit funky isn't he! I was lucky to get a photo of him. Thanks :-D
